I am always searching for new challenges in my academics, music, and sports. And appreciate every obstacle thrown my way, as I know I will be stronger for it.

My name is Johnny Raicu and I live in Champaign Illinois. My biomedical research internship at the University of Chicago in the summer of 2023 as well as attending the IEEE/ACM SuperComputing/SC'23 conference in November in Denver Colorado to present my research that won 2nd place in the ACM Student Research Competition (SRC) has fueled my desire to pursue more innovative research in biomedical engineering. I have just started my journey in bioengineering (pre-med track) at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) excited to solve problems at the intersection of medicine, computer science, and engineering. In my leisure time, I am a 1st violin player in the Philharmonia Orchestra at UIUC. I am a skilled tennis player, a lifelong soccer player, a candidate master chess player, and an accomplished piano player. In the winter I love to ski, and in the summer I love to drive with the top down and spend sunny days on Lake Michigan. Enjoy my website with vignettes of my life!!!
